• Orders worth £1.48m were received by Duple Motor Bodies Ltd at the Commercial Motor Show—a record figure, beating that for 1968 by more than 10 per cent—the company announced on Friday. This brings the forward order book for the Group up to £3.5m. Duple is a company which has been in the news recently, due to the takeover by the private investment company Capitarium Ltd, which became effective from September 14.
Among the more outstanding orders are Viceroy, Vega (on Bedford SB) and Vista (on Bedford VAS) coach bodies, spread among the following companies: Salopia Saloon Coaches; J. T. Whittle and Son; Don Everall Travel; Fred Winkle; Wye Valley Motors; Dodds of Troon; Travel House, Luton; H. and C. Transport; Stanley Hughes Hire; Hutchinson's Coaches; West Coast Motor Services; Park's Thistle Coaches; Golden Eagle Coaches; Shamrock and Rambler; Metropolitan Police; Roseland Coaches; Wessex Coaches; Thorpes Coaches and Mayfair Coaches.
