• New Scottish transport depots have been planned for GUS Transport Ltd at Newbridge. for Peek Winch and Todd Ltd at Newbridge and for Freightliners Ltd who are expanding at Glasgow.
GUS will operate a round-the-clock service from a new 25,000 sq ft depot in Midlothian county council's industrial estate just outside the Edinburgh border. Near neighbours will be grocery distributors Peek Winch and Todd who will operate from East Kilbride and Leith. They will build up a 70,000 sq ft distribution and warehousing centre in two phases. Freightliners are to extend workshops at Gushetfaulds in Glasgow to handle West of Scotland traffic.
National Carriers Ltd opened a new depot at Queen Street, Peterhead, on September 7, to cover the north-east area and Peterhead specifically.
