a series of tachograph cases involving Lichfield-based Tanker Road Services and four of its company's drivers, be heard separately at Stafford Crown Court.
Tanker Road Services is appealing against convictions for offences of failing to preserve and produce tachograph records, and for using vehicles with unsealed tachographs, for which it was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £38,550. (CM 10-16 December, 1987).
Driver Derek Richardson, of Norton Canes, is appealing against his conviction on two offences of making false entries in tachograph charts, for which he was ordered to pay fines and costs of £400. (CM 5-11 November, 1987.) DriverJohn Hunt, of Ludgershall, near Andover, is appealing against his conviction on nine similar offences. Two drivers, Glyn Griffith of Telford, and Peter Foster of Pelsall, elected to be tried by jury on such allegations.
Judge Allerdyce rejected defence arguments that it would be prejudicial if all the cases were heard at the same time.
