• Crosskeys, Gwent-based Gerry Jones Transport Services has had its licence renewed for 30 vehicles at a Cardiff public inquiry, despite admitting the unauthorised use of four vehicles.

Director Gerald Jones told South Wales Licensing Authority John Mervyn Pugh that 75% of the company's work was for Colour Steels. At the end of March Colour Steels disposed of its fleet and Gerry Jones bought four of its vehicles. Jones applied for licence authority in February, and had thought he could operate the additional vehicles for 28 days without being on the company's licence.

In reply to the LA, Jones accepted that the four vehicles had been operated for longer than a month, but said he had contacted the Traffic Area regarding the progress of the renewal application. He could only apologise.
