• The fate of Alternative Chassis Engineering is in the balance with owner Steven Ives temporarily closing the Huddersfield-based chassis builder.
"The situation is in moth balls at the moment, we are looking at different ways to continue," says Ives who also owns Halifaxbased coach operator Abbeyways.
Ives is talking to two potential buyers for the business which launched the low-floor citybus Cougar chassis in November 1990. Although the business is not operating at present the two firms which bought Cougar chassis can still get parts through Abbeyways.
