• A vehicle which belonged to Coventry-based firm Frederick Allen, which collapsed owing around 2700,000 to creditors, appears to be back on the road.

Commercial Motor spotted the Frederick Allen truck running in Coventry two weeks ago. The longstanding family firm collapsed at the end of April, just 10 months after being bought by husband and wife team Bruce and Carol Undy.

Soon after, another firm run by Carol Undy, WG Goddard, applied for an extra 20 trucks and 28 trailers to be put on its Operator's Licence. However Undy had stated that these would not include any of Allen's former fleet.

As yet Goddard has not received authorisation to operate any specific extra vehicles. However, it would be perfectly legal for the firm to run a former Allen truck on its temporary margin. Undy denies purchasing any of Allen's former fleet and she referred us to the liquidator, Ian Rose.

Rose says that three vehicles are expected to go to another firm owned by the Undy's, Fosse ME. He added that while the vehicles have not technically been sold yet, bids from Fosse have been accepted. This includes an ERF which CM spotted running from Mayflower Vehicle Systems' Hollbrook Road factory to another Coventry plant. It is still registered on Frederick Allen's 0-licence despite the firm having ceased to trade. Carol Undy adds: "The liquidator has sold nothing as far as I am aware. The vehicles [Allen's vehicles] are all still parked here which we are extremely angry about."
