Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW RANGE of transmission with six, nine and 13speed models is to be introduced by Eaton at the Frankfurt Show in September.

The new 7200-Series is designed as an intermediate range between the 600 and 900 Eaton Fuller twincountershaft transmission and is designed for vehicles up to 38 tons with engines in the 260bhp bracket with maximum torque of 720 lbft.

Eaton has also announced that it has developed a new double H control system for gear changing which is now available as an option for the 9500 and 12500 range change transmissions. Using this system the range selection is carried out automatically.

And the company has added a heavy-duty countershaft pto to its component range. It has a capacity of 325 lbft and allows direct pump-mounting and can be modified for heavy-duty flange drives.

Eaton Transmissions operations in Europe general manager E. G. Rosenberg said in St Nazaire this week: "We see a strong trend in the truck market towards lower powerto-weight ratios as a consequence of the fuel shortage and the introduction of lower speed limits.

"This trend will lead to vehicles with 230 to 260 bhp engines at 34 to 38 tons gvw." This implies seven bhp to the ton.
