The new regulations will nean that heavy vehicles will )e subject to new lower speed imits yet to be announced, while the general motoring )ublic will have present limits mforced. But the Department of Transport 'confirmed this week that there are now plans for new fuel crisis speed limits to be introduced in Britain.

"During the last crisis we found that we saved only about one per cent on our fuel bill. It all depends on the skill of the driver — one man can use as much fuel doing 50 as another does at 60mph," said a spokesman.
