CHARTERED Institute I Transport director-gener Brigadier Donald Locke pr sented the Centre for Physic Distribution Managemel awards to P. E. F. Youd Chloride Automotil Batteries and to J. Cowd Cadbury Schweppes la week.
Both men had presentl papers dealing with thE companies' experiences handling innovation in ti field of physical distributh management. Mr Youd had described t use of pedestrian trucks wi heavy vehicles to deliv batteries and Mr Cowd h described the integration distribution in Scotland.
Brig Locke said th whether the laym appreciated the part played physical distribution mana4 ment in everyday life and costs and he said that he hop that more and more col panies would begin to see t important part played transport in the operatio and decide that transport ji tified board status.
