MR, A. Fa BREWER has been appointed chairman of the South Wales Area of the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association. He succeeds MR. E. V: RALPH, who remains on the committee, and is one of the area representatives to the Association's National Council. The vice-chairman is MR. J. J. NEWBURY, M.B.E.

MR. C. HORNBY, manager for Scotland of Henley's. Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., and MR. A. HALLWOOD, of the Manchester branch, received longservice certificates from the hands of Sm. MONTAGUE HUCHMAN chairman of the organization, at a recent sales conference held in London. Each had completed Over 22 years' service.

MR. ALBERT WASS, garage and works superintendent of Northampton Transport Department, was, last week, ,appointed rolling-stock superintendent of Sunderland Transport Department. He will take up his new post next month. Mr. Wass served his apprenticeship at Sheffield and, subsequently, became rolling-stock superintendent at Keighley. Before his present appointment in Northampton,. he was depot and works superinyendent at Portsmouth.

MR. D. J. CLARKSON has been appointed a director of the, Glacier Metal Co., Ltd.

MR. A. G. EVERSHED, audit officer, has been appointed to the new post of economic efficiency officer of London Transport. As reported in "The Commercial Motor" on April 14, MR. E. S. H. EALES, commercial manager of Nottingham Transport Department, has been appointed acting audit officer of London Transport., MR. C. H. HENDERSON _ has succeeded MR. W. TAYLOR as chairman of the Industrial Transport Association's Leeds branch. MR. J. W. FEARNLEY has been elected vice-chairman, in succession to MR. J. F. ARcunotn. MR. C. V. CARR, honorary secretary, and MR. A. GLEIDHILL, honorary treasurer, have been re-elected.

MR. P. W. HOWARD, general sales manager of British Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., hasbeen elected a director. He has taken, an active part ,in the affairs of the Tyre Manufacturers' Conference, the Tyre Trade Joint_ Committee, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the Federation of British Rubber Manufacturers' Associations, and other bodies, MR. W. M. DRAVE.RS has been appointed .general 'manager. Of the South Wales Transport Co., Ltd., and of its subsidiary, the Swansea Improvements and tramways Co. The British Electric Traction Co., Ltd., in making, this announcement, adds that MR. B. GOODFEILOW is the new general manager of Sheffield United Tours, Ltd., in succession to Mr. Dravers.

MR. E. H. MASON, deputy general manager of Manchegter Transport Department, and MR. W. A. BARRETT, constructional engineer, have announced their retirements. Mr. Mason is 64 arid joined the undertaking as a. junior clerk in 1901. The new deputy general manager is MR. F. Y. FRASER, B.Sc., chief engineer. He entered the service of the undertaking in 1931 as a technical assistant. MR. J.
