ENSIGNBUS, the Essex dealer and operator, and Southend Transport have jointly tendered to operate an East London school bus route.
The London Regional Transport service could be operated by one operator in the morning and the other in the evening.
Ensign has also applied to the Metropolitan Traffic Commissioners to operate commuter routes from Essex to central London.
It plans to use ex-LRT Daimler Fleetlines on the route and is understood to have attracted LRT objections to its plan.
Ensign's operational fleet includes Fleetline doubledeckers operated on hire to LRT for its London sightseeing tour.
