Loctite Plastic Gasket LOCTITE plastic gasket, a new polymer, which is said to have ,1-1 been extensively tested in America, is now being marketed by Douglas Kane (Sealants) Ltd. This material is applied to the joint face straight from the bottle as a viscous liquid and fills the gap between any two mating surfaces; it cures automatically, without shrinking, into a durable, hard resin. The bond formed is claimed to be of 100 per cent contact, both sealing the joint and adding to its mechanical strength. Metalto-metal contact can be achieved between flanges, any gaps between mated faces being filled with a thin Loctite film.

There is no need to tighten down flange or housing bolts after initial running, because as there is no " compression set " nuts or bolts do not become loose.

Although this material strengthens joints, it is claimed that they can be broken quite easily, when required, by driving a wedge between the parts. But the joint does not need to be scraped clean before remaking.

In view of the temperature limitation of the material it is not recommended for use at above 300F.

Marketed by: Douglas Kane (Sealants) Ltd., Swallowfields, Welwyn Garden City, Herts.

Prices: £1 19s. 6d. (50 c.c. flask); £7 15s. (250 c.c. flask).
