THE Leyland Motors Group have begun operating a new Special Products Division which is to integrate all the functions of the industrial units divisions of member companies of the group. The new division will be managed by Mr. R. Ellis, who will also continue as assistant general sales and service manager of Leyland Motors, Ltd.

The function of the new division will be to undertake the marketing of petrol engines and diesel engines, all forms of transmissions and the individual components produced by the various companies within-the group.

The development will also mean the co-ordination of the production of special units overseas, and will affect such companies as Ashok Leyland in Madras, E.N.A.S.A. in Madrid, Brossel Freres in Belgium, I.M.T. in Yugoslavia, Leyland Portuguesa and many others.

A REORGANIZATION and resiting 1-1 of the Engineering Division of Leyland Motors, Ltd., is now being carried out in order that administration, development and new design policies may be controlled more effectively.

Resiting will comprise the transfer of all automotive engineering activities to a centralized area on the 100-acre Spurrier Works.

Mr. J. McHugh, chief engineer of the vehicle division of Leyland since 1956, has been appointed chief engineer and will assume complete responsibility for all design and development.

Mr. N. Tattersall, chief engineer of the engine division since 1952, has Lbeen appointed chief engineer (special projects). In this post he will concentrate mainly on the design and development of units for military purposes.
