Express Co., Ltd., officially occupied their new parcels depot' in .Rutherglen Road, Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, to the south-west of Glasgow. The opening ceremony was performed by Lord Bilsland, president of the Scottish Council (Development and Industry).

Occupying 3i acres, of ground, the depot has a 216-ft.-long load:rig bank, 50 ft. wide and 3 ft. 6 in. high, with wire mesh divisions on the inner deck to assist stacking parcels. The stacking deck is separated from the loading bank by folding doors which give access to any one bay.

Traffic office, maintenance section and administration offices are also included in this new depot, which will. primarily serve the Glasgow area.

B.M.C. POST-FIRE PRODUCTION E'OLLOWING the fire at the east

works of Morris Commercial Cars, Ltd., Birmingham, on May 5---the damage is estimated at between £2m. and £3m. --the British Motor Corporation, Ltd., announce that production of 74 10/12-cwt. vans and taxis is now being carried out in another part of the faceory. The J2 16/18-cwt. van assembly. line in the cast works was not badly affected by the fire, and production on it was

resumed on Thursday, May 10. It is hoped to restore LD van production in the course of the next week or tWo.

INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT FUNCTIONS
