In view of the weak-bridges provisions of the Road and Rail Traffic Act, a programme involving the reconstruction of 25 bridges a year in the West Riding of Yorkshire has been approved by a conference of bridge authorities, highway authorities and road-transport interests convened by West Riding County Council.

It is stated that, if this programme be carried out, the principal traffic routes in the West Riding will, in four B24 years, be freed from weak bridges. The conference also approved a list of weak bridges in the Riding, in order of priority, for. submission to the Minister of Transport.
