The Industrial Development Council of South Wales and Mon. has considered in detail a scheme for the establishment of a hydrogenation plant and 10 low temperature carbonization plants, distributed along the fringe of
the South Wales coalfield, to cost about £6,000,000. It is said that the capital can -be obtained if the Government will guarantee the interest for five years, and a request for this assistance is to be made.
The combined plants would use annually for oil and petrol production about 4,000,000 tons of Welsh coal, and 5,000 miners and 3,000 process workers would be given regular employment. Chambers of Commerce and Trade in South Wales are, it is understood, to assist in the scheme.
