The " Ever-Ready " Cleaner.

A useful device for garages and workshops, where the overhauling and cleaning of component parts has continually to be done, is the "Ever-Ready" cleaner marketed by Ralph H. Haylock and Son, 63, Queen Victoria Street, E.C. It has been designed to do away with the ineffective means which are generally employed, and which often result in the spilling of petrol or paraffin.

The device consists of a cylindrical galvanized sheetsteel container, which is supported on three legs. Inside this container is a, strongly made wire strainer, which, we understand, can bear the weight of a complete cylinder should it be found neeessary. Any dirt or other foreign matter which may be washed off the component part undergoing treatment passes through the strainer and accumulates at the bottom

of the container, where it cannot be churned up by the brush. A special plug cock is fitted, which can be used to draw off this sediment occasionally.

The illustration we reproduce shows clearly the position of the strainer of this useful accessory.

A Novel Petrol Can.

We have received interesting particulars of a new form of petrol can designed by Mr. (Manion, The Rectory. Innishannon, Co. Cork. It will be seen from the illustration, which we include herewith, that the sealing wire runs through one hole instead of three, as is usual, and passes under the air tube. A spanner is fixed on the under part of the handle of the tin and is held in place by means of a small spring. A projection on one end of the spanner is. used to snap the sealing wire. This can also be used for removing the cap of the can. Inside the spout of the petrol can a strainer is fixed ; this, when drawn and reversed can be used in place of a funnel. The inventor claims that this does away with the funnel altogether, as the spout can be used to filter and discharge the contents of a two-gallon can in about 30 seconds, as against 80' seconds without the use of this device. The various parts are, we learn, easily made, so that the device is inexpensive.

Attention for Radiators.

Amongst various samples we have received from Brown Bros., Ltd., Great Eastern Street, B.C., is a non-freezing composition known as Aglace. It has been specially manufactured to prevent radiator water from freezing, and the consequent fracture of engine parts through frost. The maker also claims that the composition acts as a preserver of metal and does not deteriorate by use, 60 that it can be used several times, thus proving inexpensive. We have also received from this well-known manufacturer a sample of Solderene, a compound it is marketing for curing " weeping" radiators. By adding a small quantity of this compound to the water before filling the radiator, any existing leaks, will be autornatic.ally sealed after a short run. Further particulars of these samples can be obtained! from the maker at the above address.
