Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Some of the largest trade organisations and unions are giving unanimous backing to a bid to create a Sector Skills Council (SSC) for road haulage. Ft accepted, the council could make strides towards addressing the chronic shortage of drivers and skills within the industry.

A 22-page document has been submitted to the government justifying its creation and it is hoped an answer will be given shortly. The Freight Transport Association, the Transport and General Workers Union and the Road Haulage and Distribution Training Council (11110TC) are among the organisations to have thrown their weight behind its creation.
