WHEN Messrs. Rob Roy Transport,
Easterhili Street, Tollcross, Glasgow, were granted a substantive A licence for one vehicle of 3 tons, at Glasgow last week, Mr. W. F. Quin, Scottish Licensing Authority, ruled that the normal user must be simplified.
British Railways, who objected, and the applicants, agreed to a new definition which gave the normal user as "mainly engineering machinery, nitrogen tanks and oxygett cylinders, and carpets, 75 per cent., mainly to the North and Midlands of England, the balance elsewhere as required."
TEN-MINUTE PUBLIC INQUIRY
ONE of the shortest public inquiries heard in Manchester occupied just 10 minutes on Monday. Mr. A. H. Jolliffe, North Western Deputy Licensing Authority, gave Contractors (Transport), Ltd., Stockport, permission to delete two semi-trailers of 61 tons from their licence and add two more units of 9 tons.
Mr. G. Clayton, general manager, giving evidence, complained about the nonattendance of Messrs. A. and T. Keogh, Winslow, who had registered an objection. In their absence Mr. Joni& granted the application.
