• The Cumberland Parish Councils' Association, having studied a questionnaire completed by some 65 of its member councils, has suggested to Cumberland county council that a transport co-ordinating officer is needed to help solve rural transport problems, and that such an officer should be responsible to a transport co-ordinating committee. The Association is also asking parish councils to take the initiatiye in exploring how local solutions may be found to local problems.
