on his first day at the wheel of his new boss's artic, neglected to apply the handbrake when picking up a load. Milner bravely leapt aboard to try and restrain the errant 32-tonner but, alas, was too late to prevent it punching a hole in the side of a warehouse. The crash left him with a broken leg and his boss, operator George Lymer, with a .£5,000 repair bill.
