Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new, lightweight, 42.3m3 capacity tri-axle tipping semitrailer, with a kerbweight of around 5,000kg, is now being offered by E M Wilcox of Market Deeping.

Its low weight is attributable to two Wilcox 'firsts', of which the most revolutionary is the fitting of composite (laminated glass fibre) leaf springs.

The monoleaf non-metallic suspension — called Liteflex has been developed in the United States by General Motors Inland Division, and scaled-down units are already fitted on many GM cars.

Liteflex is available in the UK through Rubery OwenRockwell (CM September 6). which has sole marketing rights for its use on trailers and semitrailers in Europe.

Wilcox claims that its latest tipping bulker is the first production trailer to be fitted with the Liteflex springs.

In addition to its unusual suspension, the lightweight tipping trailer is also the first unit from E M Wilcox to have an aluminium main chassis frame, supplied by Alusuisse.

The Wilcox Group has already forged close links with the Zurich-based manufacturer in the production of lightweight trailers.

In July it revealed a new stepframe tipping tank trailer, with bodywork by Wilcox Group member Seadyke Freight Systems, based on chassis components supplied by Alusuisse (CM July 5).
