The tractive units are modified Scania 6x4 R142Es with fourth, air-suspended single-wheeled axles supplied by SAF, the German axle and suspension manufacturer.
The Dutch Borshuis semi-trailer is also fitted with SAF axles, with the leading two steerable. The trailer suspension is a mechanicanydraulic type derived from the Broshuis low loader suspension.
The aluminium alloy body was built by Knapen BV of the Netherlands in co-operation with Alusuisse. It is designed to carry 35m3 and operate at a GCW of 75 tonnes. At this weight each axle load is about 16 tonnes.
Hyva of the Netherlands supplied the heavy duty, single front-mounted ram and the Jost JSK 38C fifth-wheel coupling, which is designed for a maximum imposed load of 36 tonnes.
The new Olivin combinations have replaced more conventional, 20m3 tipping artics on a 7km run between the mine and harbour. The new vehicles are said to comply fully with Norwegian construction and use regulations.
