• Evesham-based United Parcel Services has acquired the distribution business and operating base of BT Transport Services (Bridgewater), in A deal which will add some £400,000 to UPS's annual turnover.
As a result of the move, UPS has increased the number of distribution centres it runs to nine. Bridgwater is its most southern, whilst its most northerly is in Aberdeen.
The latest move comes just three months after UPS merged with two other regional courier firms as part of a business expansion scheme.
UPS will operate 12 distri'bution vehicles out of Bridgwater to cover the South West of England and will coordinate its movements with UPS's existing Bristol depot.
