Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• British trailer manufacturers and body builders have taken the major share of the orders for 700 semi-trailers, worth over £10 million, from Central Trailer Rental this year.

The company is currently waiting for the delivery of 246 new British-built trailers. Amongst those UK companies benefiting from CTR's business are Crane Fruehauf, Gray and Adams, and Boalloy, who have also built their Tautliner' insulated bodies on Dutch Pacton trailers.

The orders are part of a planned expansion in Europe by CIR. In February this year it bought out the Danish company PNO, and in March CTR started its own operation in Holland.

Contracts for the trailers, which will go into service in Europe, have been placed with Dutch, Danish and British companies, with the British sharing just over 55% of the last major order.

Component manufacturers have also benefited from the expansion with SAF air-suspension specified on most of the British-made semi-trailers. Rubery Owen-Rockwell axles, Jost fifth-wheel assemblies, and Thermo King refrigeration units are also used on the high specification trailers.

Central Trailer Rental is planning further expansion into Europe next year, and similar trailer orders can be expected.
