Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A month after the launch of Mastertank — the demountable tank transportation service — joint partners Freightliner and Tank Container Services are already looking to expand their depot network.

Mastertank is currently operating from five sites at Felixstowe, Hull, Manchester, Coatbridge and Stratford in East London. A sixth depot, however, in Cardiff is currently being evaluated, and according to Freightliner's Mastertank product manager David George, the company is "very likely to have a presence in Cardiff as from four weeks time".

Some 12 tractive units, representing an investment of £500,000, have been bought for the Mastertank project. The 38-tonne artics are fitted with compressors and are used with step-frame skeletal trailers specifically on bulk liquid and powder traffic.

George says that the joint venture company has already won contracts with at least five major demountable tank operators including Trafpak.

He is adamant, however, that Mastertank will only supply transport for demount tanks and not be buying any itself.

"Mastertank offers a tank haulage service at three different levels,' says George. -The most comprehensive arrangement is the provision of a total transport package where we undertake all aspects of a customers transport requirements.

The second option is for customer specified freight flows, where Mastertank is responsible for a dedicated traffic between two points of the transport of a specific product. The third service is the spot market business involving a single one-off movement for an individual customer".
