Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I was very interested to re the article by Brian Chalme Hunt "Transport 'Cuts' Sa Rates" (CM, January 5). I do r know whether the author lworked in local government, k much of what he says is L doubtedly true.

There is, however, a tE dency to paint all local gove ment black when in fE although staffed by professioi officers, who may on occasic be blinkered, the elect members do bring to lor government their private sec experience.

In the case of the Lond Borough of Hillingdon, Cc tralised transport scheduling • passenger vehicles was reco mended by a working pal composed of officers drai. from several council depa ments in 1976. This was imp mented in summer 197 Leasing of vehicles was int duced in 1979.
