THE UNITED Road Transport Union's Arthur Hughes told Sir Arthur Armitage this week that he is opposed to heavier lorries.
"One would think that we are up to the optimum size," he said, and added that road transport has proved to be the most economic way of transporting goods to the public.
Sensible use of the lorry is important, he said, and roadside parking and lack of premises for vehicles are two areas worth looking at.
