NITIAL results from an offleak fares experiment carried )ut by Northamptonshire 2ounty Council and National lus Company subsidiary Jnited Counties show that ilthough reduced off-peak 'ares increased passenger ourneys, they did not cut .evenue losses.

Since the middle of January. )ff-peak fares in Welling )orough had been 28 per cent ower than peak. A 38 per cent ncrease in the number of off)eak passengers was needed .o reach the normal income. Rit the increase has only been 15 per cent and fare income las fallen by 19 per cent.
