A dear old dame of portly proportions boarded the bus amid much confusion and, after sitting, down, much to the discomfort of fellow passengers on either side of her, palpita,tingIy inquired of the conductor, whose "Fares, -please! ' had awakened. her to a realization of her obligations:— "How much to the 'Eagle,' my goodman?"
" mum I We don't go to the Eagle ' I 'Yer don't.mean the Angel,' do yer? " The lady, whose expression by now had somewhat changed, thought for a moment, and then seriously exclaimed:, " Ah, perhaps yoa're right. Anyway, I knew it was same 'kind of a bird."
