Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TIS week's prizewinner is Mr. L. A. Gray, of Llandaff, Cardiff. He says that use of the idea he submits has been the means of saving a great deal on equipment costs. Mr. Gray's company uses a number of "Super Lite" spotlight lamps over a steam cleaning pit. These particular lamps are claimed to give the best results in these circumstances, but as the lamps (which cost about £1 each) are not in enclosed fittings they were frequently broken by being in

advertently hosed by the steam jet. Various methods of protection were tried, unsuccessfully, until 10in. "Pyrex" plates were mounted in front of the lamps. These plates, it has been found, withstand the steam jet at fairly close range.

Comments Handyman: 1 do not understand how "Super Lite" lamps came to be fitted in a wash hay, but Mr: Gray has certainly found a way round the failure problem.

New Road at Stevenage: A new road is to be built at Stevenage, Herts, to link the industrial area fronting on to Gunnell's Wood Road with Hitehin Road (A602) and the Pin Green neighbourhood by way of a new roundabout now being constructed. The road will be nearly a mile long and will complete the principal link between the industrial area and the Stevenage by-pass (A I(M)) interchange at Corey's Mill. Work is expected to start soon and should take about 18 months to complete.
