Heavy haulage experts Sunter Brothers of Northallerton have claimed an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for what they believe is the largest load ever moved by road in the UK.
The load, a 228-ton caustic scrubber for ICI Wilton, was 54m (177f t) long and had a maximum diameter of 5.9m (19“t). It took two of Sunters' road bogies, one with six axles
the other with eight, to moN, it from Lackenby, Yorks, Wilton.
The four-mile trip took thr and a half hours. Tractive un was a Scamme11-242 tor gross.
This is claimed to be the large load ever moved by road in UK.
