Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Frigid rigids

GEEST INDUSTRIES LTD has switched to Freight Bonallack insulated bodies to overcome rigidity problems encountered with some gliding door bodies already in use. The 6.1m (20ft) long aluminium bodies, which feature 610mm (2ft) wide side trusses at each rear corner, are expected to run for at least two years or 160,900km (100,000 miles) without the need for any structural maintenance.

The alloy bodies have four sliding doors at each side and a full-width roller shutter at the rear to provide optimum loading and unloading access either at the depot or from the pavement.

It's me!

ILLUMINATED CAB SIGNS are now available for the ERF 'B Series range. Initially, •the signs are available only as a line-fitted option, though the company is to offer a sign kit for fitting by the distributor, dealer or customer. The cab is prewired to accept the unit.

New retarder

A MECHANICAL retarder being developed by Ferodo will, says the company, have a weight, cost and efficiency advantage over electrical or hydraulic retarders.

The new design is a multiplate wet clutch with sintered metal plates running in an oil bath. This is cooled by a heat exichanger tapped into the engine cooling system. Ferodo test vehicles are on the road, but the 'first commercial fitment will be in the new double-deck bus chassis being developed by Foden.
