AFTER CONSULTATION with operators, Doughty Trailer Sales Ltd, 80 Cranleigh Road, Southbourne, Bournemouth BH6 5JL, has designed a trailer for Middle East operation.

Known as the Flying Carpet, the design is based on a twomember chassis fabricated from rectangular hollow-section steel. The trailer features air suspension and is mounted on three axles, the rearmost one being self-steering.

Five steel dropsides are fitted to each side with a fixed full height headboard and steel-, mesh panels above the drop, sides. Van-type rear doors are specified on the design with a swing-away top-frame header Extra fuel capacity is provided by auxiliary tanks slung beneath the trailer frame and by using the hollow main members as tanks.

The trailer is designed for operation at 42 tonnes gross trailer weight and costs £10,500.
