REGULATIONS regarding the transport of dangerous goods abroad have been amplified by the issue of an amendment to the 1974 edition of the European agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR).

Entitled Amendment No. 1 to the European Agreement Concerning the international Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) No. ISBN 0 11 550376 5, it can be obtained from HMSO or through any bookseller price £1.10. The full agreement No. ISBN 0 11 550350 5 is also available price £6.50.

New centres

FOUR new centres have been opened by Temeside Vehicle Rental Ltd. They are at Chiswick, Bristol, Handsworth and Moseley and are in addition to the existing centres at Hereford and Temeside's Ludlow headquarters,

Computer check

A COMPUTERISED system which automatically tests truck and bus diesel engines has been ordered by British Leyland from Autosense Equipment of Bicester.

The equipment, the first of its type in Europe, will test up to 56 engines at one time, controlling each individually. It will check engine operating conditions, decide whether a unit passes or fails the test and will display, log and store the results.

'Shelve Dover Road'

PLANS to spend £20m on improving a four-mile section of A20 Dover trunk road at its London end should be shelved, says the GLC's transport committee.

The committee would prefer the Government, who are responsible for the road, to make the money available for public transport or other uses.
