Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SALES of British trucks in October rose to 16,925 (October 1974 : 16,246), according to figures issued by the SMMT. And imports fell from 2,882 to 1,797-9.6 per cent of all sales compared with 15 per cent.

For the first 10 months of this year total sales of commercial vehicles are down 6 per cent at 189,176; British Leyland head Ford by 539 sales at 57,612-30.45 per cent of the market. Bedford took 18.4 per cent of sales, and Chrysler 6.8.

However, in October Chrysler France with 1.86 per cent of the total market was the leading importer, followed by VW (1.73 per cent) and Volvo (1.16 per cent).

But in October, in contrast with new car sales, all the fall and more in sales of commercial vehicles—for sales of all types of cv fell by 2.12 per cent compared with October last year—was suffered by the importers.

On the psv front—classified by the SMMT as buses, coaches and taxis—British sales in October amounted to 505 (408 of these British Leyland), and importers' sales numbered 15.
