THE FLASHING of headlights by lorry drivers—frowned on by the MoT—was defended in the Commons last week. This was a common practice between drivers of large lorries to enable them to indicate that one should pass the other, and did not inconvenience anybody, declared Mr. Frederic Harris (Tory, Croydon North West).
Mr. John Morris, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry, pointed out that the next revision of the Highway Code would say that the flashing of headlights should be regarded only as an indication of the presence of a vehicle on the road and not as a signal of intention.
