MORTH-WESTERN Area operators I liof extended tours made a deputation to Lancashire and Cheshire Members of Parliament in the House of Commons on. TueSday night The spokesmen were Mr. H. Shearing (Shearings Motors, Ltd., Oldham), and Mr. H.. Alien. (Yelloway Motor Services, Ltd., Rochdale). .

The development and economy of the fantail tour were dealt with by Mr. Shearing. Mr. Allen brought forward the important principles arising from the appeal which followed the hearing by the Traffic Commissioners of the fantail-tours applications. He dealt with the objections and the position that will arise if the restrictions suggested be enforced.

Spencer (Bury), -who deputized for Mr. W. E. Harrison, of Manchester Area C.M.U.A., and Councillor R. Marshall (Blackpool).

29 SILENT-CONTROL SUMMONSES DISMISSED.

A T Coventry Police Court, on Tues/Aday, 29 drivers of coaches were summoned for speeding. They had been trapped under the " silent-control " method, by which the times and vehicle numbers are noted, and the first warning a driver receives is the summons

All the cases were dismissed. .

NEWCASTLE LIKES GUYS.

RECENTLY, as reported in The Corrzinereial Motor, an important visitor from overseas paid a striking tribute to Newcastle Corporation's' trolleybuses. Thirteen of these vehicles are we are informed, of Guy make. The Guy company has also received a further repeat order from Newcastle. Corporation.

QUICK ACTION AT NEWPORT.

MEWPORT (Mon) Town Council's V./decision to replace the trams by oilers is to apply to the whole of the remaining tramways. The preliminary steps are to be taken immediately. Accordlog to the financial report presented on the change-over, the cost of purchasing vehicles will be about 251,000.
