Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following three successive months of growth, February saw a 7.4% drop in the number of commercial vehicles registered compared with the previous year.

According to the latest Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) figures, truck registration dropped by 3.3% and light CVs fell by 7.7% in the last month of the 52 plate. Iveco, Paccar Group and Scania had the worst February in the truck sector, while Volvo and DaimlerChrysler were on the way up.

In the light CV sector, there appeared to be contrasting fortunes for rivals Ford and Vauxhall. With the Fiesta Van between models and the higher rating of the Transit Connect. Ford's registrations have largely been displaced up to the next sector. Vauxhall's is still success, though, as the new Combo becomes firmly established. Up to 3,500kg, the Citron/Fiat/Peugeot and Vauxhall/Renault/ Nissan partnerships are performing strongly, while WV is at barely half of the 2002 levels.

A current phenomenon in the CV market that doesn't look lobe abating is the popularity of 'one-tonne' pickups, due to the tax breaks offered on company cars.
