Manchester-based engineer John Harris has enhanced the design of his truck brake-locking device and developed a new trailer locking device, and is now looking for a manufacturer to take on volume production.

The Safety Brake is a device which combines ignition switching with isolating the air supply to the truck's park brake. It can also isolate a second independent air circuit, such as clutch or gear change.

The lock is a high-security device which offers operators the possibility of having their own unique keys with master keys if required. The pneuma side is connected through sp cial aircraft quality co-ax plastic tubing, which cannot I bypassed.

The new trailer brake sy tern uses a four-digit mechanic combination control devii mounted on the bulkhead, ar an isolator valve fitted into ti park brake line (in an out of ti way location), and connected I the same co-axial tubing.

Neither device uses al electronic components, ar most parts are off-the-she components.
