NE OF THE few voices of dissent over the Road Haulage AssociaDn's proposals for revised district boundaries has come from a tuner's wife in the East Midlands.

Pauline Chettle has written to HA director general Freddie askett saying it is "surely of e utmost folly" for the associaDn to consider eliminating the 1st Midlands area and merging ost of it with the existing West idlands area which is run from pton.

She warned that she and other ives in the area will not conlire to support the RHA if its Derations are moved west, and told Mr Plaskett: "Some tidyingup of areas is needed, we agree, but not dissolution of viable areas or antagonism of loyal, hard-working members."

The RHA national council is due to decide on March 31 whether to go ahead with Mr Plaskett's proposals for an eight district structure, but a spokesman told CM this week that the general opinion of the membership so far has been in clear support of the proposals.

The same council meeting will be asked to approve the RHA's plans for its reprieved exhibition trailer, which is expected to visit major agricultural and transport shows, including the CM Lorry Driver of the Year finals in September.
