BLACKBURN'S Borough Transport has reached agreement with its drivers over the reintroduction of a change voucher system ICM March 13). It now hopes to restart giving passengers change vouchers in April.

There were complaints by the public when change vouchers were stopped after the first month of a new no-change system; and these had been supported by the North-Western Traffic Commissioners, who had warned that they might impose the scheme through their control of the undertaking's licences.

Blackburn had agreed to recommence giving change vouchers, but the drivers at the company's main depot refused to operate the scheme and stalemate had resulted.

As a result of the agreement with the union, a public sitting arranged for April 6 to discuss the matter has been cancelled.

LEYLAND VEHICLES has won an order to supply 200 buses to Mozambique. The £10 million order is for Victory single-deckWS fitted with Duple-Metsec bodies. The chassis are to be built at Leyland's Wolverhampton and Leyland factories, and will be fitted with Leyland engines and gearboxes. The first 50 bodies are to be assembled in Britain with the balance assembled in Mozambique. A 12strong Leyland maintenance team will provide field support for the buses until 1985.
