THE GOVERNMENT's public ex penditure plans up to 1984-5 al locate a total of over £1,300 mil lion support for public transpor next year.

Announcing this in the Corn mons, Junior Transport Ministe Reginald Eyre noted that thi subsidy required to maintair any particular level of servici would depend on a variety o factors, including improvement; in efficiency, the containment o costs and fares policies, as wel as external factors such as eco nomic growth, inflation and ca ownership.
