route, Pandoro has named MARK FORREST as transport manager — Midlands. Mr Forrest, who joins the company from the Thomas Tilling Group, is responsible for Pandoro's day-to-day road transport operations in the Midlands and South-west and is based at the Stoke depot next to the M6. He reports to the Pandoro operations manager Tom Hastey at Fleetwood.

Freightliner has a new general manager for its road operations. He is LESLIE CHEESMAN who started his career as an ICI management trainee in 1961. After subsequently working for tanker operators Harold Wood and Tankfreight Mr Cheesman joined Wincanton Transport in 1976 where he became divisional marketing manager. From 1980 until his appointment with Freightliner he ran his own consultancy.
Mr Cheesman is responsible for fleet operations, labour relations and maintenance of Freighliner's 500 vehicles. Also at Freightliner, MALCOLM FILSELL becomes deputy to the managing director BRYAN DRIVER Mr Filsell retains his current postion as director of engineering and road operations.
SIR ROBERT LAWRENCE has been appointed chairman of the National Freight Consortium, With PETER THOMPSON serving as deputy chairman and chief executive. They held the same posts with the National Freight Company, and all other Company directors have transferred to the Consortium. In addition, Barclays Merchant Bank deputy managing director RON WATSON in now a non-executive director of NFC, PHILIP MAYO is director of legal services, and Pickfords Group managing director GEOFF PYGALL is an executive director.
MARTIN BALLINGER is to take over the post of general manager of Northern General with effect from May 1. He is currently acting general manager of Western National and in his new position he will succeed PHILIP HARMER who is now regional executive of National Bus Company's Northern Region.
