HAULIERS running to Saudi Arabia face over 300 mobile weight statiOns carrying out spot checks to enforce new Saudi vehicle weight regulations. The Saudis have brought in the new legislation — with the 40-ton maximum weight of vehicle and trailer — to maintain their road network. It means that more vehicles are now needed to move the same laods.
Daf Trucks' agent in Saudi, Renk Holthuizen, said that operators will eventually find 4x2 tractive units with tri-axle trailers the most efficient way of operating at maximum permissible weight.
