HIS NAME recalling an early velocipede, Roger Hobby, chairman of the Road Haulage Association's National Tipping Service, is no mean cyclist. He was an international racer until 1970, when he gave up competitive pedalling in favour of the administrative side of the sport.
After 15 years he is to make a sporting appearance in the saddle by cycling 100 miles from his Lincolnshire home to Tipcon 85 at Harrogate in May. He is inviting sponsorship in aid of the Commercial Motor Ethiopian Send a Spare Fund and for the Tipcon Ethiopian Appeal Commercial Motor has already passed £14,000 from readers to the Save the Children Fund for famine relief.
