BRITAIN'S second major truck racing Grand Prix is being run this weekend at Brands Hatch in Kent.

The Lucas/Truck Superprix, run with support from The Sun newspaper, is a two-day event today (Saturday) and tomorrow, with races for trucks in categories of up to 300hp, 360hp and 430hp.

The first prize for the championship is £5,000, with the runner-up getting £1,000 and the third fastest £500. Other cash prizes will be paid to the next three.

According to the organisers, important safety requirements have been met at Brands Hatch, with leading truck racers having satisfied themselves that the track is safe.

Admission to Brands Hatch costs £3 today and £5 tomorrow, and children of 14 or under are admitted free. Covered seating costs £2 extra today and £5 extra tomorrow; uncovered seating £1 extra today, E3 extra tomorrow.
