WOMEN-only buses couli operate in a part of London if tht voluntary organisation, Safi Women's Transport, h successful in its bid for a £70,O0 Greater London Council grant.
GLC grants sub-committe( chairman John Macdonald des cribed the application for a gran' to enable the organisation to sei up a minibus service ir Lewisham as an imaginativ€ idea for a difficult problem. Ths proposal envisages a minibus service operating for a flat fare. The service would operate from 6.30 pm to 12.30 am, and would serve evening classes and entertainment centres as well as bus stops and tube stations. A public meeting was held at Lewisham this week to gauge public support and to listen to new ideas.
