• The £60m State-owned Scottish Bus Group came forward on February 23 with detailed proposals outlining terms for the leasing of the Glasgow Corporation Transport services. A draft of the proposed lease has been submitted to Glasgow City Council and was studied by a special sub-committee of the transport committee on Tuesday.
This move follows two years of much publicized negotiations and it is suggested that the Group should lease Glasgow's transport system for 30 years, with the possibility of an extension. Safeguards are provided for employees.
The Group suggests it would take over some £8m of liabilities and pay the Corporation an annual rental.
