Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Taking on youngsters and helping them to progress has been instrumental in the expansion of the business. Many of the drivers started out on vans and 7.5-tonners, then were put through their LGV test by Parker. They then moved on to bigger rigids and artics, and a number were given the chance to become owner-drivers.

Some have gone on to build up successful businesses of their own and yet still work as subcontractors on a regular basis. Long-serving staff and family members work together; daughter Emma helps with admin, son Kris is in charge of the warehouse operation, which has recently moved to a bigger facility, and Mat Gould handles the Fortec side of the operation.

“It’s been particularly satisfying to see young people come to work for us. We invest a bit of time and effort in them and they respond accordingly. Many have gone on to drive the bigger vehicles and set up on their own under our wing. I try to be a fair as possible, because they have to be successful in order for us to succeed. Also, on a personal level, it’s great to see them grow up, get married, have families and make their way in life. Everybody should have a chance to prove themselves.”
